MUSCLE-POWERED PUBLIC LAND USERS BANDING TOGETHER TO WORK FOR RESPONSIBLE LAND STEWARDSHIP AND USE

Welcome to Palisades!

Purpose:
Our primary goal is stewardship of the entire Rimrock/Palisades/Indian Canyon area, including all public lands within the approximate boundaries of Sunset Hwy on the South, Riverside State Park on the North and East, and Airway Heights on the West.

This will include trail planning and maintenance, park advocacy with regard to City Parks issues, involvement with the various agencies assisting in fire management, periodic cleanup activities, and a helpful, watchdog approach to all park users -- i.e. friendly toward non-trashers, non-poachers, non-dealers.

In addition, to assist other user groups in working toward accomplishment of their goals within other areas to enhance muscle-powered use, whether by help with marketing/grant writing/funding or physical help with trail work and building projects.

Finally, to spread the teachings of the "Leave No Trace" Outdoor Ethics program, both within our own area and by reaching out to other user groups to help work toward having clean, sustainable public lands everywhere.

We hope you'll join us.

The Pocket Guide to the Conservancy and Wildlife trails of Palisades Park has been completed and is available for $3.00 cash or check, and $3.50 credit card.

Send your cash/check to: Palisades W. 4625 Bonnie Dr, Spokane, WA 99224. or click here to buy online!

The Guide includes not only the trail map, it boldly states that the Park, as a Conservancy Area and City Park, is non motorized! There is a brief description of the geology of Palisades that was described by geologist Mike Miller. The Area Etiquette sections encourages a Leave No Trace ethic in using the Park. There is also a brief history of Park beginnings.

The production of the guide was a concerted volunteer effort from those who walked each trail with a GPS, and coordinated them on the map, to Northern Capital Management, who printed them, to Ben Johnson's Eagle Scout Project Troop 325, who constructed and hung the numbered trail signs on all the trails.

The trail signs are color coordinated to match the map. Spur trail signs are yellow, Loop trails are red going North and green going South. Cutoff trails are blue.

Enjoy Palisades Park and LEAVE NO TRACE! Especially do not tie plastic ribbons to trees and bushes! Stay on marked and established trails.
