Craig Volosing’s childhood home was near Downriver Golf Course. Being an outdoors kid and “horse crazy” from infancy, the rural and open spaces of the Rimrock area attracted him like a strong magnet. As a teenager, he made friends with many West Plains “old timers”, pursuing knowledge and experience with horses and all matters of ranching and farming. After college, Craig became a “Rimrock resident in 1973. He and his wife Karen fondly call their place “Hidden Meadows Ranch”.
In addition to a lifetime with horses and cattle, Craig is a career musician-bandleader-orchestra contractor (trumpet). He also enjoyed a third career (1984 – 2002) which required extensive overseas travel.
In the mid-eighties, Craig eagerly joined forces with other like-minded neighbors in pursuit of stewardship of Palisades and Indian Canyon natural areas. Those early years of effort eventually led to the formation of Palisades NW as a 501c3 non-profit organization. Now a resident of the Palisades neighborhood for over 40 years, Craig suspects that many neighbors might now be regarding him as an “old timer”!
Crystal and husband Dave have followed his Army career for more than 22 years and 10 moves. Residents since 2012, the charms of Spokane, friendliness of the people, and the myriad of culture and outdoor activities quickly led this to be their ‘forever home.’
A mental health Occupational Therapist and born ‘horse nut,’ Crystal enjoys western dressage, western pleasure, and trail riding, hiking with Dave and their two Vizsla, genealogy, and getting to know people, especially those of the neighborhood.
Crystal is grateful to the city, county, and neighborhood residents and local organizations and businesses whose dedication, hard work, and contributions the past four decades that have made the Palisades park and neighborhood the unique gem it is for people and wildlife.
