MUSCLE-POWERED PUBLIC LAND USERS BANDING TOGETHER TO WORK FOR RESPONSIBLE LAND STEWARDSHIP AND USE

Welcome to Palisades!

Purpose:
Our primary goal is stewardship of the entire Rimrock/Palisades/Indian Canyon area, including all public lands within the approximate boundaries of Sunset Hwy on the South, Riverside State Park on the North and East, and Airway Heights on the West.

This will include trail planning and maintenance, park advocacy with regard to City Parks issues, involvement with the various agencies assisting in fire management, periodic cleanup activities, and a helpful, watchdog approach to all park users -- i.e. friendly toward non-trashers, non-poachers, non-dealers.

In addition, to assist other user groups in working toward accomplishment of their goals within other areas to enhance muscle-powered use, whether by help with marketing/grant writing/funding or physical help with trail work and building projects.

Finally, to spread the teachings of the "Leave No Trace" Outdoor Ethics program, both within our own area and by reaching out to other user groups to help work toward having clean, sustainable public lands everywhere.

We hope you'll join us.

Centennial Trail's First Annual Adventure Auction
Greetings Cetennial Trail enthusiasts,

IMAGINE SPOKANE WITHOUT THE CENTENNIAL TRAIL. There wouldn't be nearly as many beautiful places to bike, hike, run, or just enjoy the wonders of the Spokane River and adjoining parkland.

NOW, IMAGINE THE TRAIL WITHOUT THE FRIENDS. There would be no citizen advocacy group to push for maintenance and improvements on the Trail. No one to advance capital projects such as a safer crossing at Mission Street and completion of the Trail west of Riverfront Park. No one to speak for you and I on the vital Trail issues which are so important to us.

On April 10th 2009, you will have an opportunity to help the Friends of the Centennial Trail (and have a lot of fun in the process!) by attending our first annual Adventure Auction. The event will be held at the beautiful Dance Street Ballroom in the West Central neighborhood. Tickets are just $25 and include a selection of delicious hors d'oeuvres and 2 drink coupons. Additional beer and wine will be available for purchase. Just 180 tickets will be available.

Many wonderful items will be available in our loud and silent auctions. A partial listing is reproduced below. Additional items are being added daily, so there is bound to be a few surprises.

If you would like to attend this event, please phone or e-mail me today. I can be reached at (509) 448-8724 or jrascoff@msn.com. As we receive no government funding, your support is vital to our mission. I hope to see you all on April 10th!
Jon Rascoff
